RELIGIOUS OBSERVANCE OF DOMINION DAY

Dominion Day proper this year falling ou a Sunday (to-morrow), the Early Settlers' Association approached all churches and denominations, asking them to observe this' day as ohj of general thanksgiving, with special reference to the work of our pioneers. Wo must all recognise tho great' debt of gratitude to® owe to Almighty God for His goodnrss and mercy in bringing us to our present, state. This is recbgnised in all churches and among all denominations. Therefore in all churehjjs and places of worship to-morrow special services will bo held, ond prayers of thanksgiving will be offered. The churches of tho Church of England will givo > thanks and refer to tho work of pur pioneers. Thl* Roman Cntholio Churches will observe tho day, with special prayers of thanksgiving, Archbishop O'Shea conducting a special service at St, Joseph's, Bucklo Street, nnd preaching on the work of this pioneers. The Presbyterian Churchcs are all holding special services, some in the morning and others in the evening. The Sfetli(xlist Churchcs also aro all holding special services. A special service of thanksgiving will be held in the Synagogue by th».» Rev. 11. van Staveren. All other churches will likewise hold special services, and in all cases sermons will bo pfi;acl\ed on tho work of our pioneer settlers. Other centres have been communicated with, nnd from the sympathetic implies received it is anticipated that the day will be observed as one of genoral thanksgiving throughout the Dominion on this our national day.
