Tho Legislative Council yesterday granted the Hon. Major Harris, of Auckland, leave of abspiico till the end of the session, on account of illness. Loavo till the end of the session- was also

granted the, Hon, Colonel Baillie, of Wellington, for a similar reason. The Hon. Mark Cohen, M.L.C., left for Dunedin last night, and expects to return to Wellington on Saturday next. Captain 1). Bryan, late of the New Zealand Staff Corps, will leave to-day for England,. where he intends to reside. Captain Bryan (saw a good deal of service in. tho late war, and on his

return to New Zealand he was appointed assistant military secretary at Gene-

ral Headquarters. Some months ago lie

went Home to pursue a course of study at a military college, and only came back to the Dominion by tho Athenio a. few days ago. On being medically examined it wos found that Captain

Bryan was unfit for active service, so
