MISS ADELAIDE VAN STAVEREN. Tho two operatic song recitals to be given at the .Town Hall on AVednesday and Thursday next by Miss Adelaide Van Staveren are of exceptional interest to students and lovers of music, as the "star" is a New Zealander. Jliss Staveren has won an enviable reputation in tho greatest musical centres of the world, and returns after an absence of twelve years with a splendid record of success, and an established name auiongst the great singers. After years of study and hard work in England, Italy, and Germany, tho very start of her public career was crowned with success, first at Dal Veriui. in Milan, then at Covent Garden Theatre, London. During the war Miss Van Staveren was tireless in her willing labour of entertaining the soldiers. Some of her operatic succcsses were in the roles of Delilah, Mercedes, Suzuki, Aznceua, and in oratorio she has made a reputation which gives her place among the greatest singers. • Box plans for the two recitals will be opened at the Bristol on Monday.
