LABOUR DAY SPORTS
tyA meeting of tho Labour Day Sports Committee was held in the Trades Hall last night to mako arrangements for the forthcoming celebrations oh October 25. Mr. P. O'Neill presided. It was reported that tta Waterside Workers' Band and the Scottish Society's Pipe Band had been engaged for the day, ?nd a complete programme of sports events was dccided upon. The programme will include 31 events, including 100 yards,_ 220 yards, and one mile races, which will be under the control of the Amateur Athletic Association. There will also bo a -MO yards trades union relay race for the Carey Memorial Shield, and a 440 yards primary schools' relay race. Oilier attractions will be a tug-of-war, baby show, anil dancing competitions. In tho evening a concert will bo held in tho Town Hall, and for this leading talent throughout the Dominion will bo engaged.
