AUTOMOBILE CLUB
A committee meetintr of the Wellington Automobile Club was held ,'Oll September 16. There were I'resent:—Messrs. O. M. Banks, B. L. Donne, H. W. Lloyd, L. E. Partridge, J. J. Williamson, and 11. J. Stott (secretary). I:':ve new members elected. Mr. C. C. Holmes wrote stating that owing to ill-health, etc., he was compelled to resign as a member of tho committee. The resignation was acceptcd with regret, and the secretary was directed to Bend a letter of thanks on behalf of tho committee for Mr. ltolmes's excellent, work in the past.
The dazzliiiß-light question was raised by a. member of the club in respect to a summons he had received. The secretary reported ho had been unable, to act for this particular member an the time was too short. It was agreed that tho matter be referred to tho New Zealand Automobile Union with a request that tho secretary would interview the Police Department with a view of arriving at an agreement or comprpmise until further legislation was passed on this subject. It was resolved to ask the City Council if. provided the club supplied them with printed notices srcli as had been issued to all members of the club, they would post same in trams, etc., for a period of one month. It was also resolved to ask the Education Department if tho club provided leaflets would they request teachers to make the children acquainted with the contents.
