Advice has been received in Ma6terton that Mr. C. E. Daniell and the Rev. G. T. Hrown have been appointed the Government's representatives on the Board of Governors of the proposed new High Scnu'ol. It was resolved to call a summons meeting of the lodgo to discuss a circular from tho Wellington district regarding the pooling, of the surplus capital of the Wellington district lodges. Several members were against the appropriation of the lodge's surplus capital. Two loans of .£3OO each wore granted to soldiers for the purchaso of stock at this week's meeting of the Claims Board of the Wairarapa Patriotic Association. Another loan of. £'M was approved to enable the installation of a milking plant. One application for a grant of -£60 for furniture was referred to a kindred society, nnd another for ,£250, with which to purchase farm manures, was held over, pending further information. Hastorton has had sugar shortages before, "But never one so acute as at present.
