An interesting relic of tho old days of New Zealand was shown to the historical section of the Philosophical Socioty last night by sfr. E. G. Pilcher. It is a letter from Captain Arthur Wakoileld to a friend at.New Zealand House, London, and was posted at Nelson on April 30. 1842, travelling, as is carefully indicated on tho envelope, studded with oldfashioned post-marks, "via Suer./" The letter is in a remarkable state of pregePMkttan.
