INSTITUTE SWIMMING SPORTS
A SUCCESSFUL GATHERING ' The swimming carnival held at the Tepid Baths last night under tile auspices of the Boys' Institute passed off very successfully: There was a large attendance of spectators, and the various events were keenly contested. During the evening selections were played by the Wellington Pipe Band iind by the Institute orchestra, Further entertainment war provided by Miss Morrison, who danced a Highland fling, and by Jfr. Patience, who gave a vocal item. A varied programme of sports was carried out. the principal events resulting as follow:— 53 1-3 yards (girls under 141—11. Walker, 1; J. Imandt, 2. Time, 30eec. 33 1-3 yards -(girls ever 14)— A. Walker, 1; V. Brodie, 2. Time. 29sec. 100 yards, Men (open)—D. Morrel, 1; E. Patterson, 2. Time, 72scc'. The greasy barrel competition was won by (Sawyers. Diving (meiO-Patterson, 1; W. Thomas, 2; D. Murrel, -3. 33 1-3 yards, Men (open)—M'Gill, 1; Turner, 2. Time, 19 3-ssec. Jtusical Lifcbuoys-O.
