The N.Z. and A. chartered liner Mahla arrived yesterday from Auokland. Bhe has 200U tonß of general cargo .from New York to disoharge here. 6ho is expected to sail.for Melbourne on Thursday. WOODARRA LEAVES LONDON. The Woodarra left London on September 16 for Lytteiton. Port Chalmers, and Bluff, via Newport News and Panama. She 1b due about October 30. MOERAKI FOR SYDNEY. At present it is very doubtful if the Moeraki will be able to pet away to-day for Sydney. She is scheduled to sail at noon. , RIMUTAKA'S PA6SENGERB. The Durham should leave Montreal at the beginning of October for Auckland, Wellington. Lytteiton, Dunedin. and Melbourne She will be followed by the \Trevalgan, for Auckland, Wellington, and Sydney, towards, the end of October. The Earanga will sail from Montreal at tho end of October, and the Tremeadow will follow her. MESS-TABLE GOSSIP. The death occurred at New Plymouth on Thursday morning of Mr. Charlei Ernest Wahlers. stevedore for Messrs. Gannaway and Co., of Wellington. Mr. Wahlers was on a business visit to New Plymouth onliehaU of his employers, and succumbed suddenly nt the Criterion Hotel from heart failure; The late Mr. Wahlorj was born in Livernool 48 ycare ago, and came to New Zealand when n.uite a young man. For somo thirteen years ho was in the employ of the Wellington Harbour Board, and was later appointed stevedore for the Huddart-Parker Company. He recently resigned from the company s service in order to accept a Bimilar position with Messrs. Gahnaway and Co. The late Mr. Wahlerß, whose homo was' at Kilbirnie, leaves a widow, two sons, and three daughters, and a brother of deceased ,1s Mr. Louiß Wahlers, manager of the Wellington Club.

The Ruapehu is to leave Auckland for Wellington on Sentember 25. She will sail for London on October 1. The Paparoa should loavo London on November 4 for South Island ports. Tho Hororata is to load at New York for New Zealand porta » The Omaka, which left shortly after six o'clock la 4 nieht for Blenheim, had to nut back later owlne to enelne trouble.
