CRICKET ASSOCIATION
ANNUAL M.EETINO. Tho annual meeting of the Wellington Cricket Association was hold last evening ft the Chamber of Conuner.ee. Mr. Martin 1\ Imckie presided, and .there was a very good attendance of delegates. Affiliation was granted the Railway Cricket Club, Hurray-lloberts Cricket Club, l>oneke Cricket Club, and Eastbourne Cricket Club. , . In moviug: tho adoption of the report 'and balance-sheet, the chairman congratulated the association on the activity shown last season, and ho referred particularly to the various outside matches that wero played. These games engendored enthusiasm, and he was 6ure that tho interest displayed last season would be Bhown In an (ntcnsilled form this season,' to tho benefit of cricket throughout the Dominion. Ho suggested that an effort should be made to increase tho number of honorary membora, as a source of revenue, because tho expenses of the association were increasing with the increase in tho number of clubs and players. Mr. lynan, of tho defunot Imperial Supplies Club, complained of the playing grounds allotted to the junior and thirdclass teams last season. He contended that tho grounds wcro not (It to play on. Exception was taken to the proposal in the report to play Only one match on the Basin Besorvo on Saturday afternoons. Mr, Wircn was of opinion that a second wioket should be made available on the Basin Reserve.
Mr. B. L. Salmon suggested that the second ground should bo allotted to a junior match. t Mr. D. M'Kmuie said that in tho-In-terests of cricket tho association should, adopt tho suggestion to play only one tramo on the Basin. The conformation of the Basin mado it impossible to play on two grounds-there must bo only one or four. i Tho chairman stated that the question involved with respect to the Basin Reserve could bo dealt with later, and on this assurance tho report and balancesheet wore adopted, Tho election of officers resulted as follows:—Patron, His Excellency Admiral of the Picct, Viscount Jcllicoo.
