PROTEST AGAINST THE OATH
BY SOUTH AFRICAN NATIONALISTS Cape Town, September 15. Tho Nationalists .refused to take the Oath of Allegiance at the opening of the Provincial Council of Pretoria, but subsequently expressed willingness to ailirm allegiance. Dr. Reitz explained that they were prepared to affirm because tlicy were compelled by law, but only under protest, as they were Republicans.
