GOLD MINING INTERESTS

A public meeting of gold producers and others interested in mining industries at Rimu lasL-Jtoht passed the following resolutions :-(i) That, the Govemment.be urged to compensate gold miners who produced nnd sold gold during tho war period for the loss of value sustained through the passing of the Government measure prohibiting the export of gold, thereby affecting the sale price in tho world's market. (2) That the Government b° urged to consider the advisability of a "forward policy to promote and develop the gold mining interests of the Dominion, especially including an effort to prospect country" favourably renoirlcd on geologically, and that generally the fullest action be taken to probe the unrevcnled mineral wealth of New Zeaand in regard to Aanv rich deposits which are believed to exist throughout the length and breadth of the country.
