ANDREW BLACK, VOCALIST. (Rec. September 15, 9.55 p.m.) Sydney, September 15. Obituary.—Andrew Black, vocalist.— Press Assn. [Though hailing from north, of tlio Tweed. Mr. Andrew Black was, some thirty years ago, ono of England's leadrng baritones in concert and oratorio. His voice was singularly ricli in musical quality, strong, and of fine timbre, and behind it all was the emotional and dramatic force, of an artist.; Ho caiuo to New Zealand about twenty years ago with a concert company, and besides being greatly admired as a singer of outstanding ability, his jovial Boheinlnn nature made liim a host of friends on this side. Ho made three professional visits to Wellington, in tho course of as many years, and on ono occasion was brought over especially to sing hero in oratorio. . He subsequently sottlcd in Sydney, where ho married, making only rare appearances on tho platform. Mr. Black also taught singing for a timo in Sydney.]
