Rev. Dr. Gibb, of St. John's: Presbyterian Church, was expe6ted to leave Vancouver by the s.s. Niagara yes-.ferday, according to the latest information received by the Church authorities here, and he 'should, if all goes well, reach Wellington about October 8. Dr. GJbb went Homo to secure the services of 40 ministers and missionaries and lias actually engaged 32, of whom 20 are home missionaries and 12 ministers. Two of those engaged have already reached New Zealand. Engineer Lieutenant-Commander Earnslwiw, R.N., has received notice of his anpoir.tment to the special reserve of officers. Captain T. M. Wilkes, M.C., N.Z.S.C., has been appointed secretary to tho Air Board. An interesting gathering took place in the board room of the Dominion Harmons' Institute on Tuesday evening, when shareholders of the Now Zealand Farmers' Co-operative Distributing Company, from the various' districts in which the company operates, met to make a presentation to Mr. A. Leigh Hunt, general mahager of tho company from its inception in 1903 until recently. Sir James Wilson presided, and in tho course of a reminiscent speech traced the history of the company, and referred in most eulogistic terms to Mr. Hunfs able and successful management. Speechos were made by Messrs. Ewen Campbell, James Pearce, and H. J. Richards, who complimented Mr. Hunt, and .expressed the good wishes of the large body of share, holders for' his success in his new sphere of activity. On behalf of the subscribers to the testimonial Sir James Wilson presented Mr. Hunt with a handsomelyilluminated address, framed in rimu, together with a substantial monetary gift, ; in recognition of his 1 eminent services to j co-operation. Mr. Duncan Neven, manager of the! Reno Maxwell Concert Company, arrived from Sydney by the Moeraki yesterday for the purpose of arranging a, tour of the Dominion by this company. Mr. Neven was last in the Dominion as manager lor Mademoiselle Antonia Dolores, who. after a two and a half years' tour of Australasia, is now on her way back to Prance. Mr. F. Henderson, who has superintended tho works at tiro Now Plymouth harbour during the past seventeen years, resigned his position at the August meeting of the board. In accepting Mr. Henderson's resignation the board acknowledged the value of his services in carrying out several important works in connection with harbour improvements, to their entire satisfaction. A motion of sympathy with the relatives of the late Mr. Clarke Johnson was passed by Tuesday's meetimj of the Wellington Presbytery. Tlie Rev. D. M'Cosk, formerly of Cas. tlodawson, Ireland, look his seat in the Wellington Presbytery on Tuesday, and was accorded a cordial welcome by the members. Mr. M'Cosh is one of the new Presbyterian ministers sent out to the Dominion by tho Rev. Dr. J. Gibb. Mr. J. E. Broadfoot, who for the past five months has been Acting-Chief Postmaster in Timaru, and is now transferrod to tho North Island as senior reliev-. ing officer, was met bv the Timaru Post and Telegraph staff beforo his departure, and presented with a handsome gift. . Mr. H. J. Blow, formorly of the Public Works Department, returned to Wellington by the Moeraki yesterday. Mr. Wcod, of the head office of tho Union Company, "arrived from Sydney by the Moeraki yesterday. Tiio following promotions and appointments in the Public Trust Office are announced: Mr. C. Freyberg, district, accounlami and chief clerk, Wauganui; Mr. J. G. Nilson, assistant accountant. Auckland. Private advice has been received in Invercargill of tho death, in Tasmnnia, of Mr. H. Stuckey, who was for some years mathematical and science master of the Southland Boys' High School.
