PETONE BOROUGH COUNCIL

The fortnightly meeting of the Petone Borouffh Council was held last evening, Sus Mavor (Mr. J. W. M'Ewan) presiding. A letter was received froin the J rln '« Minister acknowledging receipt of the council's letter suggesting that a part of ! tlio land already held by the Government in I'etone, be acquired by the Hallway Department for workers homes, and statins that he was obtaining a report on the matter from the Manager of Hallways. The resignation of Mr. W. T. Toon, electrical enuinccr, was accepted. The District Health Officer forwarded a certificate showing repairs required to he eßected at a property in Richmond Street. The secretary of the Ambulance Committee advised that the committee could not agree to the ccmn'eil's proposal for the housing of tho van. Building permits totalling £2515 sverc Issued during the month, making a total value for the year of £12,903.
