SENIOR CADET 'COMPETITION. With a view to inculcating a love of outdoor sport among the Senior Cadets the officers of the Wellington Group have arranged a scries of Rugby matches for the Tarious companies. 'lho first round of the competition was played on Saturday, when a number of licenly-contestcd games eventuated. The matches were all played in a very friendly spirit, and the presence of a number of the group officers as spectators encouraged the boys in their sport. The following games were got °29 Company, Petone Technical School (9), v. 31 Company, Wellington City (8). Referee. Mr. R. E. J. Martin. 107 Company, P. and T. (36), v. 17 Company. Boys' Institute (0). Refereo, Mr. J. ■ 3/ Company, Lower Hutt (9) v. 39-40 Company, Wellington South (0). Referee, Mr. 21 Company, St, Ann's (3), v. 32-33 Company, Thorndon-Ivarorl (0). Referee, Mr. J. A. Fletcher. , „ 36 Company, Petone (27), v. 26 Company, St. James's (6). Referee, Mr. J. W. Nicholson, 37 Company, Upper Hutt, won from 34 Company, Johnsonville by default. The following fixtures have been drawn up for the second round of the competiKilbirnio v. 41 Brooklyn; 37 Upper Hutt v. 21 St. Ann's; 38 Lower Hutt v. 30 City; 29 Petone v. 36 Petone; 107 I'. and T., a bye.
On Saturday 42 Company, Hataitai, journeyed to Masterton, and played a friendly game with Masterton District High School, a third-grade team.. A very. e\;«i game resulted in a draw, neither side scoring Tlie Wellington boys, who were in charge of Sentor-Sergeant-Ma.ior Stiles, were very hospitably entertained by the Masterton residents.
PUBLIC SERVICE 'TOURNEY. The Public Service tournament waß continued on Saturday with the following reSilts:—Public Trust (9) defeated Pensions Department (3). Government Life Insurance (Si defeated Defence Headquarters (0). The match 0.P.0 Poßtal v. 0.P.0. Telegraph will be played on Thursday. The r.?mi-flnal will be nlayod on Saturday. when Government Life Insurance will meet the winner of Thursday's name. The final is set down for Saturday week, and will be between Public Trust and the winner of crame. The T. S. Ronaldson Cud will be presented to the winners.
