TRAINING TEACHERS
By TolcErapl'— l ' rPES Association. Dunedin, September 11. In reply to Ihe remarks made on Thursday" at the conference of technical education representatives, Professor BoysRniitli, head of the domestic scienco school' at Otago University, has pointed out that no provision exists for training teachers in any secondary schools, nlthough the need for it has been urgently felt for some lime, and had been dressed many times by the Hon. J. A. Ha'uan, formerly Minister of Education. The university authorities feel it is the duty of the Education Department, and not tho university, to establish training colleges for teachers. It is generally recognised that students of tho Otago Domestic Scienco School nnd been excellently treated so far as that science is concerned. The Otago Education Board, realising the needs of tho Dominion, recently granted facilities to domestic science students to practise teaching cookery.
