Another step forward in popularising the Australian-mado pictures has been made with the seven-reel production of "On Our Selection," which is to be <hown for the first time in Wellington at the king's Theatre to-night, under the auspices of Mr. B. J. Carroll. The i innumerable _ incidents, grave, gay, and tragic, of this splendid picture are familiar to most people, and thoso wlio have Tead Steele Rudd's book will appreciate all the more the realistic human and natural manner in, which the story is depicted on tho soreen. Mr. Raymond Longford, who produced "The Sentimental, Bloke," has lent a master touch to the many quaint comedy and poigJiantly pathetic scenes of tho story, and the production generally is said to be better than most" of • the imported super productions. The management state that the cost of this production and tits picture royalty rights constitute a record for this end of the world. "On Our Selection" will he screened to a special musical arrangement. There will be a matinee to-morrow, nnd on Wednesday next. Seats may be reserved at tho Bristol or at the theatre by telephone. EMPEESS TIIEATHE. Commencing to-day. at the Empress Theatre, a powerful cast, headed bv Howard Hickman and Khea Mitchell, wiil appear in the Golawyn attraction, "Social Ambition." Amongst other prominent named is that of Joseph Dowling, ■who -will be remembered as "The Miracle Man." Mr. Dowling appears as an old miner. The two stars aco.uit themselves with great credit in a story that has a powerful messago to all socially nmmtious, pointing out as it does the contrasts between the false, exotic atmosphere of society life as compared with that in the free air of -Aliiska. A Gaumont Graphic and "Liberty", serial, episode 13, will also be shown. EVERYBODY'S THEATRE. _ A- delightful romantic comedy is seen in the English .production from Harnia studios, "Big Money/' the outstanding feature of the new programme to bo shown at _ Everybody's Theatre to-day, .Tames Knight and Rose Manners filling the loads. The production is said- to be notable for the beauty of the scenes of English and Irish countryside. "Big Money" is described as a story that will appeal to all people—blessed or other-wiss-with interfering relations. : The latest Pathe Gazette, a comedy, and another episode of "The Mystery of 13" mil be shown.

The Grand Opera House was well filled last evening to witness the socond performance of "Our ■ Reveille," an enter- . tainment made up of songs. marches, . and dances. , The various numbers nre given by girls, and Miss Estelle Beere's pupils contribute some of the most pleasing ballets, the liose Ballet in particular being very pretty, so also was the Black mid White Ballot. •"Ten Minutes in Cherry ■ Blossom Land" is an effective scene of Japaneso life. The marches aro executed with precision, and the solo dances,were good, especially the Russian dances given by Miss Evadne Goodson. ( The English Pierrots, who have had ' a very successful run during their long stay in Wellington, are now in the closing days of their season. The present programme is bright and clever, and is cnioyed to the full by each succeeding audience.
