IMPERIAL GOVERNMENT'S PROPOSED PREFERENCE FOR SCOURED. (Rcc, September 7, 5.5 p.m.) London, September G. Tho conference of shipping lines admits that circulars were sent to constituents quoting 2J(I. freight;for scoured wool, but states that it is how holding its hand pending developments. Probably it will neither withdraw nor imposb .the increass, because scoured wool is forthcoming in such negligible quantities that freight quotations are practically a dead letter. It is unofficially explained that the reason the Imperial Government proposed preference for scoured wool is that the market js oversupplied with wool, and the warehouses are congested and di'a.vs inevitable, and the wool will Miue-'iuontly loce condition. —Aus.-N.Zj.
