AMERICAN SHIPPING LEGISLATION INJURIOUS TO TRADE INTERESTS. (Reo. September 7, 7.30 p.m.) Tokio, September G. A meeting of tho Chamber of Commerce of Japan adopted a resolution declaring that the American shipping legislation was injuring tho trade interests of other countries. Tho American Shipping Board agents here proposed a rato agreement from tho Orient to the United States Atlantic coast. Japanese shipping interests pointed out the' difficulties in adopting such an agreement due to existing differences between Japan and the American companies. At Manila 'the labour unions adopted resolutions against tho importation oi contract labourers into the Philippines, as. proposed by the Ajjricultural Concress, which is in session here.—Aus.N.Z.
