. KING'S THEATRE. lAli'ce Joyce's latest production,' "Slaves of Pride," now showing nt the King's Theatre, is proving a highly popular offering. It contains a choice assortment of situations and characters, admirably fitted in a story with appeal and a hnirjpy knack of telling tho truth. Tlio vitality and magnetism of Alice Joyce's performance stands out throughout tho whole production as a worthy achievement, and seldom has this lovely star been seen, to better advantage. Tho supporting films are of a very high standard, especially the comedy, "The Grocery Clerk," which can hold its own agaftist any comedy seen here for some considerable time. Mr. Charles W. Moore, a popular local baritono, sang with much success "Friend o' Mine" nnd "Madelon," for which he received a hearty encore. Tho (King's Grand Orchestra play as an entr'acte selections from "The Mikado." There will be a full orchestral matinee to-morrow. EMPRESS THEATRE. "The First Law," featuring Irene Castlo and Antonio Moreno, is showing at the Empress Theatre. The story Is of ft beautiful girl, gently reared, who became enmeshed in tho toils of a gang of blackmailers. After marriage she found that her husband had token advantage of her lovo to make ner tho tool of the gang of crooks he 'controlled. A long series of laughs is provided in "The Grocery Clerk,' 'and other supports are a further epfeode of "Liberty," and an interesting topical film. EVERYBODY'S'..THEATRE. "When a Man Loves" is a. magnificent' feature starring Earle Williams nnd showing at Everybody's Theatre. ■ The Eory is laid in. England and Japan, and is remarkable for the beauty of the sottings, and tho convincing maimer of presentation. Sitaplicity is the keynote of the story, and it ' has unmistakable charm, while the star and supporting cast are responsible for fine work. Tho supporting programme contains another number of "The Mystery of 13." THE ENGLISH PIERROTS. The English Pierrots'. who _ have.. provided bright, clean entertainment for eeveral weeks past, are Hearing :the end of their Wellington season. The present programme is right up to the high standard maintained throughout, and is full of clever individual and concerted numbers. . "OITR REVEILLE." Keen interest is being taken fln the production of "Our Reveille," to be staged at the Grand Opera House for a season of six nights, commencing Wednesday. There are numbers to pleaso ell tastes,-from the turn of Little Jean Fuller to the brilliant stage spectacle, "The Grand Liberty March."; by 130 performers. Amongst the soloists will be Mrs. Williams (Wftiiganui), who scored much success i<n the south in her Dutch numbers.: Mrs. Clarke fGisborne), who established herself a -universal favourite; also Miss Dorothy White- (Christchurch), who in her Aerial fox-trot numbers, in conjunction with the producor, was reported in Dunedin._ Wanganui, and Christchurch as having been the best they had seen. . In acrobatfc dancing Miss White is a star performer. Tho box plan is now open at the Bristol.
