IMPORTANT GOVERNMENT BILLS,
The Bill dealing with rates of land and income tax is now being printed and will be introduced in the House of representatives within a few /lays. This Bill will provide for a certain readjustment of taxation, with a view in part to the removal of anomalies. Taxation is to be reduced at some points and increased at others. The principle adopted in flic adjustment of the scales has been to distribute the burden ns equitably as nossible. . . , The Land Bill is another importantGovernment incisure that is nearing completion. It will modify some of tbo legislation now in ■ operation, with tn« obioct of making it <» sil " - for returned sol'diers and ordinary settlers to get on the land. There will be no departure from the freehold principle. The Loan Bill lias been printed, but lins not yet teen finally revised by Cabinet It'contains compulsory clauses re; latins to money required for robbers settlement and some other purposes connected witli the war.
