The Brooklyn Hnrriers Club held their flve-milo cross-country championship at Miraniar on Saturday, under ideal conditions, a large number of spectators being present to witness the club's big event. Mr. Bristow acted as Etarter. with Mr. Harvey as judge, and Mr. Todd timekeeper. Unfortunately R, Bell did not compete in Saturday's ovent, nevertheless a. great race resulted, Buck, Todd, llcnticc, and Sherwood fighting out every inch of the journey. The following are tho results :- Championship: D. Todd, 1; .W". Burk, 2i a Sherwood, 3. Time, 25mm. <6see. A scaled handicap was held in conjunction with the race, and provided a close finish, a. few seconds only separating quite « number of runners. Result: 0. Sherwood, handicap, lmin. 35scc., 1; F. Harlcn 3nun, Sssec, S: B. Grigg, 7r.iin. Msec, and T. Collins, 4min. (dead heat), 3.
