STATE LOTTERIES
NEW SOUTH WALES SCHEME BEING CONSIDERED. (Rec. September 5, 5.5 p.m.) Sydney, September 4. The Treasurer (Mr. T. .T. Lang) is considering a scheme for State lotteries to raise money for local loans. It is proposed that tho consultations should bo similar to Tattersall's, prizes to he paid in Treasury bonds bearing interest at. li. per. cent., payable at ton years, each consultation to be based on a. hundred thousand shares at 55., and lie conducted without recourse to horse-racing. The first prize would be ,£5000; tho second .C2OOO. the third .-ClflOO. In addition to its percentage as promoter, which is computed at .C 300.000 yearly, the Government. liv paying' the prizes in bonds, would obtain from subscribers a loan up to one million pounds annually.—Press Assn.
