NEW PUBLIC HEALTH BILL
WAR REGULATIONS AGAIN
. ..The chief incident of the afternoon m the Hou6e of Representatives yesterday *ras the introduction of the Public Health Bill, a nieasuro which, while being mainly a consolidation of existing law, yet introduces very important amendi ments into the law. The introduction of the Bill led to an interesting discussion.on,public health questions, which was made possible by a fair'.y full explanaj .iion of the new points in the Bill by the Minister (Mr..Parr). e w The House adjourned early until the evening session out of respect for tho , memory of a former member, the late Mr. Donald Rcid. =.• In the evening the first items of business were three amended Bills returned from the Council. First of all came the Masseurs Registration Bill and the Minister succeeded in porsttading the House to keep one amendment I made by the Council, which will have some importance in making the Bill effective. One other amendment was disagreed with. The two other Bills, tha ; : Crimes Amendment Bill and the Arms Bill, were accepted with the Council's ' amendments with but-little debate. Last of all came the third reading of the | War Regulations Continuance Bill, and the Labour members, who had /ought the | / Bill in.Committee, opposed it also on the third reading, and protested against ' " tho passage of legislation aimed wholly or in part at "organised Labour."
