MAN RUSHES INTO HARBOUR
A PONSONBY SENSATION. By Teleerapli-Pms ABBOclatlon. Auckland, Augusff 31. Residents in tho vicinity of' Curran Street and the beach at Ponsonby were amazed this morning at seeing a man rushing wildly down Curran Street towards the beach, crying out as ho went. A".| some concrete steps leading down to tho beach he fell, injuring his head and leg. Picking himself up, ho hurried on across the sand and illito the harbour. W'th amazing rapidity ho gained deep water.
• Realising that something was truly amiss, a party set off in a boat _ anq rescued the man, who • was snlll in an exoitcd state. It appears that he is a returned soldier and is evidently suffer' ing from tho effects of shell-shock. AftcJ tho rescue he was admJtted ;lo the hosi pital.
