The mo-lion was seconded by <ho Leader of the Opposition (Mr. Mac Donald), by one or two of the older members) of the House who had known Kcid as a brother member, and by Otago members, all of whom pird hifeu tributes to the record of public service of the Reid family. The resolution was affirmed, and the House rose au 4-10 p.m. until tho evening sitting out of rcspcct for the memory of tho deceased member.

The remains of the late Mr. S. Clarke Johnson, general manager of tho New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., were interred in wo Karon Cemetery yesterday morning, in tho presence' of a very numerous gathering of relatives, friends, and church and business associates. The chief mourners were Messrs. 11. J. and N. S. Johneon (sons), E. M. and E. D. Johnson (brothers). R. Wilson and J. and C. Stonier (brothers-in-law), E. Johnson, A. Johnston, and D. Beattie (nephews). The pall-bearers were all members of St. John's Kirk Sessions—Messrs. Corkill, Bary, Howi'st, Gill. M'Farlane nnrt Ramsay.' Among those present were the Tit. Eon. W. F. Massey, Eons. J. G. W. Aitken, M.L.C.. W. Nosworthy, P. If. Gutliric, Sir Francis Bell, and Sir William Eraser. Among a largo number who sent floral tributes were tho Trime Minister and ill's. Massey, the stall's of Messrs. Dalpety and Co., Ltd., ilie New Zealand Shipping Co., Ltd., tho local board of the New Zealand Loan, and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd.. and tho various New Zealand branches of the company, Women's National Deserve, St. John's Kirk Session, Mr. XJttley. tho staff and bovs of Scots College and iJio Farmers' Distributing Co. The Rev. Burridge. assisted by the Rev. W. Day and the Rev. J. Paterson, officiated at the graves:'de.

The death was recently'reported from London of Mr.' James Bull, formerly a well-known fxsttler in the Bangitikei, and after whom Me town of Bulls takes its name. Decoaeed was 89 years of age.

On the motion of Mr. C. M. Luke, seconded by Captain Barnsdale, a resolution was carried at tho anniversary service of the Sailors' Friend Society last night paving a tributo to the life and work of the late Mrs. M. A. Williams, who had endowed Ihe institute'with its buildins and the land on which it stood. JTer noble work should (remarked Sir. Luke) inspire other members of tho community to follow in her footsteps. Vote of sympathy were also accorded Messrs. W. Allen, and R. C. Tienner, two active helpers of the society, in their illness.
