BOROUGH COUNCIL MEETS,

The Mayor (Mr. 'J. W. M'Ewair> presided over last night's imeoting of .the Petone Borough Council. Toms vers also proserin: Councillors J. L. Churchouse, G. Cook, W. Hay, E. Tovey, A. Anderson, J. Kyle, A. Brocklebank. A letter was received from tho Minister of Education, giving his yiewa on the provision of funds for technical cducation, as set forth ih a recent public statement. Councillor Churchouse thought <ihat the Minister had missed the main point in that mado no reference to the contributing bodies being allowed representation on_ tho board pf managers. On tho motion of the Mayor, seconded by Councillor Cook, ill was decided to ask the Minuter if ho would bo prepared to allow the contributing bodies representation on the board of managers. The secretary of the Petone Cricket Club wrote asking for tho use of tho oval on tho recreation ground for She ensuing season on tho same terras us last year, and that the council roll the ground—lt was decided to grant both requests ' On the motion of Councillor Kyle, seconded by Councillor Tovcy, it was decided to grant the Wellington Rugby Football League the use of No. 1 ground on the recreation ground for September 4, on'which dato tho final match, Pellone v. Subuiba, is to be clayed,
