The Gas Company was able to koep its word on Saturday, and after a four days' 6toppago lurned 011 the gas again for tho city's cervices. For the first six or seven horn's the supply was very poor owing to tho accumulation of air in the pipes, but on Saturday evening the quality began to' improve, though the preasuro continued poor nil through Saturday. .Many people were unable to do their cooking yesterday owing to the poor supply. This is expected to bo rectified to-day. The stoppage, in tho supply of gas last week marks an epoch 111 tho history of tho company. Never before sinco the company commenced business has the gas 'been cut off for a day. There havo boen occasions when the supply has been cut off to enable certain work to bo done, but never before bas there been a forced hiatus in t-Wo supply, and it is hopod that such troubles wiil not rwur in tho future
