On Thursday afternoon Mrs. Johnson, wife, of Dr. Johnson, of Carterton, and' Iter , daughter, who are leaving this week 011 a visit' to England, were guests at a farewell party given in their honour by the ladies of Carterton. The last of the "Leap Year" assemblies took place at Otaki in Bright's Theatre, last AVcdnesday night. There was a good attendance, there beiing considerably more men than girls. The' hos;iesses were the Misses O'Rourke, Bennett, D'Ath, Booth (secretary) and Brandon. They wore large gold butterflies with their pretty frocks, and so were distinguished _ from the guests.
