RIFLE SHOOTING
EMPIEE MEETING AT MELBOURNE.
A deputation representing the New Zealand Rifle Clubs' Association waited upon the Minister of Defence yesterday afternoon and asked for a. Government grant towards sending a New Zealand "team to compete at tho Empire rifle meeting toibo held at Melbourne in November next. Mr. T. M. Wilford, M.P.. introduced the deputation, wl'iich was headed by Messrs.' H. Marshall,. W. G. Fellinghnm, and R. E. Flaws, chairman and members of the association. Fifteen members of the House were also present, and ail apology wns received from the leader of the Opposition, who expressed/his sympathy with the deputation's request. Tho Hon. E. H. Rhodes, in reply, said lib had already had the matter under consideration, and a sum of JMoft had been provided for. He would be pleased to recommend Cabinet to vote tho small additional amount asked for.
