AMERICAN AND BRITISH COMPARED. Washington, August 25. The Navy Department has published a report showiug tllio relative strength of the American and British navies. It shows that the Dreadnought tonnage of the United States Navy in 1923 will he 1,160,000 tons, of which sixteen units will be battleships mounting 16-inch guns. There are now 19 ships of the Dreadnought type in the United States Navy, which will be increased to 35 by 11123. There will also be six. giant bat-tle-cruisers each of 13,500 tons displacement, aiid ten new light-cruisers, which will bo the speedies'/ afloat— Aus.-N.Z. Assn.
