The Department of Agriculture lias recoved the following cablegram, dated August 25, from the High Commissioner for J<ew Zealand, London "Fifteenth series Government wool Bales commenced last night, with largo attendance. Competition- more genojral, especially from Continent, than for several months past. Compared with closing rates last London Beries, price merinos, flue, 5 per cent.. 7J per cent, dearer;'other descriptions unchanged. Crossbrcds, fine.- par to 5 per cent, dearer; medium, unchanged; coarse, neglected, and largely withdrawn; 90,000 bales shown wools available for series, of which 18,000 are New Zealand. Wo description sales during this series." Tlia New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., have received the following cablegram from their London house under date August 25:—"Tallow: Wo quote ■present spot values for tlio following descriptions:— Fine mutton, £3 15s. per cwt,.; .good beef, £3 15s. per cwt.; mixed,'-,£.5 6a. per cwt. ,lfarl;et .dull—nominal quotas, tions."
