The Marton meeting- on Wednesday next is the next Catherine to engage the attention of sportsmen. Good acceptances havo been received for the various events. Entries for all events at the Wanganui meeting close on Monday next -. R. O'Donnell has been in the Waikato district durine the week, and he returned home on Monday. It is probable that Mr. G. L. Stead will in future have two teams in training One will be for the South Island meetings, and the other for the Norih Island. • The Riccarton trainer, F. D. Jones, will take Amythas, Mustard Pot, and a two-year-old by Sunny Lake from Medley to 'tho Wanganui meeting. Amythas will, contest the Eclipse Stakes, and there is a possibility of Arrowsmith belne sent north for the same race. '.( • • Glen Canny is the only Auckland horse nominated for the New (Zealand Cup. . Rewi Poto and Rawakore, formerly trained by R. Johnson' at New Plymouth, were. laßt week Bhipped.to Auckland, whero their owner now resides. The Waikanae-brod Phio, formerly an inmate of H. Telford's stables, was successful in the second division of the Notico Handicap, one mile, run at Kensington on August 18, Phio is by Bezonian . from Philomel, and is a full-sister to Philomela, While contesting a six-furlong race recently Richmond Main bled from the nostrils, and with the son of Prince Poote a leading favourite for the Melbourno Cup the occurrence created a- mild sensation. B. Decley left Auckland for Sydney |;by the Rivcrina yesterday. Ho'is to ride.K; J. Mason's team in their Sydney engagements. . Mr. 0. O'Connor, the well-known starter, who has been on a holiday visit to Sydney and Melbourne, returned to Auckland by the Niagara on Tuesday. i
