POLICE AND CIVIL OASES. A. short list of notice cases was dealt vith by Mr. J. S Evans. S.M., ,in the Magistrate's Court yesterday. Samuel M'Donald was sentenced to seven days' imprisonment for using obscene language in Taranalci.Street, and to Imprisonment for 48 hours for committing a grossly indecent act in Cuba Street., Hu was also fined 53. for drunkenness. For drunkenness. Susan M'Laughlin and William Woodß. each with three previous convictions, were fined with, the option of 24 hours'' imprisonment John Henry Morgan, for whom Mr. A. IS. Sievwrlitht appeared, was charged that between July 18and 22, 1919, he broke.and entered the Hhnn of Leslie Walter MTluif and stole 2CO Mouses, and two sill: skirls valued at £SO3 10s.: also '.hit on Kehriinrv 2.1920, he broke and entered the Shop of 11 Margaret Mn'hcwson, Lambton Quay, and store 11 fox necklets, 25 blouses, 2 woollensports coats, i crepe de chene skirts, one taffeta ollk skirt, value £214 3s. The evidence for the prosecution was the same as that given, against William Banks'.alias Wright, who was.charged with the same two offences, and who pleaded -guilty on . Wednesday. Further hearing of the case will be taken this afternoon if time permits. ciyiii business: .Mr. W. G. Shirley, of Eketahuna (for whom Mr. K. ■' Kirkcaldie iippeared) against the Equitable Buildimr Company (represented bv Mr. Ty Reave! for a refund of £19 10s., in connection with the discharge of a mortgage, the point at issue was whether the company had agreed to accept, repayment without a bonus. After, hearin™ evidence.' the Magistrate held that plaintiff had ' not proved that any special provision had been made by the parties, and accordingly <rave Judgment for the defendant company. .
