The supply will relieve the position for the gasworks and some essential industries where the shortage is. acute. Tho vessel hail a very rough passage across, the. trip taking .twenty-two dayß. Exceptionally heavy gales' were met with..and tho decks were awash for eighteen days. RAUPO FROM. NEWCASTLE. Tho Scalee barque l!a,upo arrived shortly before two o'clock yesterday afternoon from Newcastle. She haß anchored in the stream until a berth becomes available for her. She bas 1080 tons of coal aboard, and Is in command of Captain R. Kennedy. OTIRA LEAVES MONTREAL. The S.S. and A. liner Otira left Montreal on Aueust 20 for Auckland, Wellington, Lyttclton. Melbourne, and Sydney. The vessel should arrive at Auckland on September 23, and is due at Wellington at the end ,of that month. WAIMANA AT LYTTELTON. The S.S. and A. liner Wairtina arrived at Lyttelton y£stcrday morning from lundon, via Suva. ALL SAILINGS INDEFINITE. As a result of the trouble on fhc waterfront, the Bailing? of all vessels are indefinite. Even'if the trouble is 'settled to-day, and the men commence work, there will not be cufficient labour offering to man.all the vessels in port. MESS-TABLE GOSSIP. Mr. K. M'Donald has joined the Rosamond as third engineer, vice Mr. W. B. Hoars. : Mr. A. Jilckson has joined the Karu 'HB second mate. Oaptain S. Jones, of the Northern Company's steamer Malio, has come ashore on holiday leave, and is bclne relieved by Captain R. Fletcher. Pakeha. The New Zealand Shipping Company advises that the Oturama, now loading on the coast, is due at Wellington on September 3, mid will sail four days later for London, via Panama. The departure of the Waihemo for Sydney to-day depends on whether labour can be secured to load for bunker coal. There was no news of the Alexander having left Nelson last night, and Messrs. Wright, Stephenson and Co. advise that probably she has been diverted.
