IDLE SUGAR WORKERS
« ARBITKATION COURT CONSIDEES DISPUTE TO-DAY. By TeleKraoh-Prcsa Association. Auckland, August 25. The sugar workers have bwm unsuccessful in their request for payment of full or part wages during the interim that will elapse between Monday last and the. date of their reinstatement. An effort to secure such payment was made on Monday by the union secretary. Representations were made by telegram to thfe president of the Board of Trade, from whom a reply was received last evening, stating that neither the employers nor the Government would consider the suggestion. The special sitting of the Arbitration Court to hear the dispute is, nfter some little delay, now set down for to-morrow morning. The un- , ion's assessors had intended to move for an adjournment to allow tho Court to . visit the workß, but as they are still idle it is considered that no good object could be served by a trip- across the harlxnir. The suggestion, therefore, will not be. acted upon. -It is under- . stood that sugar for essential industries is being issued from the works by motor
