Nevrs from Central Asia shows that the Bolsheviks are regarded with undisguised hostility by tho Moslem States in that region and considered to he enemies of the Pan-Islamic idea. Khiva and Turkestan for the most part are hostile, though helpless, while Persia is engaged in hostilities. In Bokhara tho feeling against the Bolsheviks is intense. The Bokharians fear an invasion. The Ameer is strengthening the army, and food stocks firo being accumulated. The arrival of an Afghan military mission in Bokhara is viewed with growing suspicion by the Bolsheviks. Tho alliance between the two States would expose the Bolshevik) eastern flank, with its vital and vulnerable railway communications. The Ameer of Afghanistan hopes to create a Central Asian confederation of Moslem States, with himself as leader. In the meantime tho econmic position of the Soviets in Central Asia is becoming worse.
