Mr, James M'Lellan, one of the bestnown merchants in New Zealand, and epresontative in New Zealand for many ears of John Lysaght, Ltd., died at his esidence in Abel Smith Street, on' Tuesay night. Mr. M'Lellan wrs bom in llasgow 67 years ago, and in that city earned his business as a hardware merhant. He came out to New Zealand in 890 as Lysaghl's representative, and iuilt up a fine business for that firm hroughout the Dominion. Mr. M'LeJfin was always interested in pu'blic afiir= where commerce was concerned. Ho erved for some years as a member of ho Harbour Board, was a president of he Wellington Chamber of Commerce nd vice-president of the New Zealand Jhambers of Commerce. Tie was also a (resident of the Wellington Bowling ;iub, and was interested in the Wellingon Opera House Company and many ther concerns in Wellington._ His wife ied some ten vears ago, leaving a famly of six daughters, one of whom is Mrs. look, wife of Mr. A. D. Cook, of tho loyal Insurance Company. Mr. James Ames, City Valuer, is still cry ill as tho result of an attack of nfluenza. Hutchison, of Auckland, vice-president. The election to fill vacancies on the Council of tho New Zealand Society of Accountants has resulted in the return of Mr. Ernest Hunt' (Wellington) nnd Mr. J. Morrison (Christchurch). The death has occurred in Auckland nf Mr John M'Williams. of Webb Street, Wellington, who was in fornieT years a contractor in a large way. Ho was a member of tho Wellington Racing Club. The funeral is, to take place in Wellington. '
