REDUCED GAB CONSUMPTION MAY BE ENFORCED.
By Telegraph-Press Association. Auckland, August 23. Tho embargo on 6hipinonts uf Newcastle ooal threatens to bring about a further and more drastio reduction in tho consumption of gas. The position is that at present the Auckland Oos Company relies on Newcastle for threc-tiuartow of its requirements, consequently if news does not come to hand that the embargo has been lifted a further saving in eon'sumption will immediately have to bo enforced. The last "cut" in pressure resulted in a 25 per cent, reduction in consumption, just one-third of the amount it will' be necessary to rave in output should the embargo not bo lifted.
