THE OPPRESSED SALARIED MAN
Sir,—l notice jT letter from "Dust" in your issue of Saturday last on. the above matter. It may interest clerks of all county councils to know that definite steps are about to bo taken to form an association.
A movo would foavo been mado earlier but for the' fact that the Featherstor, County's remit on the, matter was referred to the executive by tho last Counties' Conference. It has taken that «c----ecutive just about twelve months to deal with tho matter. All' count)' clerics will shortly receive a circular letter from tk'a secretary of the, Counties' Association with reference to same. However, as my council was rcisponsible for the matter coming before tine conference, 1 am taking an early opportunity of communicat ing with all county clerks in the Dominion, in order that details may be available for any conference that may be convened. ■ ■•... I would suggest that someone tako up the matter for the boroughs and town boards. It should be possible to form two good organisations, and nothing should bo in the way of combining' tho two, and thus make ono substantial association. "Dust" is perfectly right: tho position of the salaried man employed by local bodies has been very unfairly dealt with. Some local bodies have been just and fair, but it has invariably meant that loathsome "cap in hand."—l am, etc., GEO. W. COBB. Martinborough, August 14, 1920.
