CITY LOAN PROPOSALS

MEETING AT ISLAND BAY,

A meeting of ratepayers was held at St. Hilda's Hall, Island Bay, last evening to consider the loan proposals. ; Mr. Colby occupied the chair. Councillors R. A. Wright and L. M'Kcnzie explained the whole of tho loan proposals. Councillor Wright traversed tho whole of the city works and explained tho necessity for every item. He pointed out also What, financial obligations would exist, and ifihowed that apart from tho trading concerns, a penny halfpenny would meet the ratepayers' obligation. Councillor M'Kenzie followed and traversed the whole of the outlying' districts, and explained each item and the advantage of each from a city and suburban point of view. He produced plana outlining the proposals of the foreshow improvements at Island Bay, which were heartily approved by the meeting After questions had been answered, the ratepayers passed a vote heartily sui> porting,the loan proposalls Councillor Bum, appealed to the peop's to unite and assist tho opening up of the suburban areas, and this was -to* ily agreed to. .
