Papatawa on Wednesday, as follows:—Buyerß were present' In largo Jiumbers, and it was very evident from the outset that there is a distinct shortage of • (rood dairy cows In the district. Tho herd of 42 cows came forward in good condition, and tfe are pleased to report •'that.-the herd, with the exception of six aged-and unsound cows, made the record ' avorago of £28 155., the whole of the herd ■ averaging £25 9s. Bidding was extremely keen-throughout the sale, and . many 'genuine buyers left the property without ■havinsr mado a single purchase. The ■ prices ranged from £37 to £16. The bulk , of the herd sold in the vicinity of £30;' three-year-old, . heifers made £24 15s. to £23; ' two-year heifers. £10. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile '-'AgCTcv Co., Ltd., report on their F/keta- . huna sale held on. Thursday:—We had a lialr entry of cattle, mostly dairy, Btock. The sale was dull and lifeless.
