Kauri King had the race in hand at tho last hurdle, and ho won by three lengths, Deviation beating Jack Symons by a length, with Mcltchikoif, Fisher, and Thrace following in that order, and Ladogeur laS. Ormesby led over Cutts's fence, but Oakfcigh then took charge. At the post-and-rails Waimai fell, and Oakleigh led over the Kennels Double six lengths clear of Merry Lad, while Coalition had dropped back last. San Sebastian then made a forward move, and at the top of tho straight he was just behind Oakleigh and Merry Lad. The field then closed up, and passing the 6tand Oakleigh and San Sobastian were together six lengths 111 front of the others, who were in a bunch. San Sobastian took charge going out of the straight, Oakleigh dropping back. Merry Lad lost his rider at the post-and-rnils. Coalition fell at the sod-wall, Oakleigh fatting over him. Crib then joined San Sebastian, and drawing out on reaching the straight he won by six lengths. Ormesby wnR a dozen lengths away, third Time, 6im-n. 22 2-ssec.
