THE HONEY CROP PROSPECTS • The Director of tlie Horticulture Division of the Department of Agriculture has received from the apiary instructors the following reports concerning tha ■honey crop prospects:— Auckland.—July has been an exceptionally fine month. Sharp frosts at nielit have Seen the rule, followed by fine tunny days. Bees have wintered well, having been able to _ work tho ■ winter llowering blossoms. Prices for both honey and beeswax remain unchanged. _ Wellington.—Colonies aro wintering well and conditions generally point to the fact that they should come out well in the spring. Bulk honey is scarce as is also section honey. Beeswax is ill demand at 23. 6d. per lb. Christchurch and Dunedin.—Present indications point to a. good season. Reports to hand indicate that bees have wintered well. The mildness of the wca : ther lately experienced has started breeding in earnest. In bush districts, bees are working tho early native • flora. Prices are slightly firmer. Prime bulk is quoted at Sid. to 9d. per lb; sections, to 12s. per dozen: 101b. tins, !)s. b'd. to 10s.; pat honey, no quotation.. The distribution of this line is in. the hands of wholesalers only. Beeswax is in strong demand. Current quotations, 2s. 3d. to It. fld. per lb.
