NEW TRADE AGREEMENT.

. Ottawa, August 4. The new trade agreement between Canada and the British West Indies provides that the present mutual, preference of 20 per cent, shall be jncreased to 50 per cent. The free list is extended. A weekly steamship service between Canadian' ports and the Eastern Group of tho Indies, and a fortnightly service with the Western Group, are arranged for, tho various Indies Governmoat to contribute the necessary subsidies. The Eastern service is to start not later than January 1, and the Western as soon as possible. The agreement is for ten years, subject to tho approval of the Canadian Parliament, the Legislatures of the Indies. and tho Secretary of State for the Colonies—Aus.-N.Z. Cables Assn.
