FORECAST AND SUMMARY AT 4 P.M YESTERDAY. Present indications arc for unsettled squally weather with northerly and westerly winds, strong to gale, backing to southerlies shortly. Bain may be expected generally, and heavy raiu and flooded rivers in the West Coast and southernmost districts or the South Island. Barometer fall further, but rise in the south soou. Westerly disturb',nice baa accounted for cloudy and unsettled conditions since Sunday, and rain in man t v parts. Northerly winds have prevailed, with increasing force everywhere. B. V. PEMBEBTON.
