WOODVILLE FARMERS UNION
A meeting of the Woodville branch of ' the Farmers' Union was held on Satinl- - night, Mr. S. Bolton, jun., being in the chair. He explained that some time .iireviously a decision had been arrived at that the branch should.secede from the Manawatu Sub-Provincial, but it had been suggested that they should rejoin that body, as it was understood that' that body nad been placed upon a better footing so far as organisation was concerned. He mentioned that Mr. I\ W.' Hubbard (president of the SubProvincial Executive) and Mr. G.|W. C. Moon, organiser for that body, were present by invitation, and at his invitation they both spoke, the former on the necessity' of combination and co-opera-tion amongst farmers, and.the latter on organisation and the mutual insurance scheme. At tho conclusion of the addresses it was resolved'- to rescind the motion standing"on (he books to sever connection with the sub-provincial, and notice of motion was given for next, meeting that the branch should rejoin the Manawath Sub-Provincial. A heart; vole of thanks was passed to Messrs. Hubbard and Moon for attending. Several important remits were carried for submission to the Sub-Provincial Executive, including one protesting against tho action of the South Island Sheepowners' Federation in asking that a license tto purchase meat ior pxoort should Tie granted to Armour and Co. A meeting is to bo held shortly to endeavour lo arrange for a wood-chopping competition in the district.
