THE DUKE OF YORK
The birthday honoure list was made notable by the bestowal of a peerage on Prince Albert, who, following in the footsteps of his father, now becomes Duke of York, Earl of Inverness, and Baron liillarnoy, thus conferring a compliment on each of the threo kingdoms. The history of tho Dukes of York is a most interesting one, nnd study of it shows that a quite a number of them succeeded to tho Throne, says tho "Daily Mail." Tho youngest Duke of York was Henry VIII, who was so created at tho tender age of three. There is widespread satisfaction at tho honour conferred upon Prince Albert, who is a most at. tractive, plain-spoken young man, with a passion for motoring, lawn tennis, and squash rackets, and, on the more eorious side, a genuiuo desiro to acquire a thorough mastery of 4ihe industrial problems of our time, lie is a very popular figure among the workers af the Clydeside and elsewhere. Aerial navigation is another of the hobbieg of this energetic young man, who qualified as a pilot during the war, and was present in tho Collingwood in the famous Battle of Jutland.
