Mrs. T. Hutchison (Auckland) arrived in. Wellington last evening from, a visit to the Wairarapa.
Tho wedding took place quietly at ■ "Wairona," the residenco of Mr, and Mrs. E. Martin, Waharaa, Waikato, and lato of Pahiatua, on July 28, of Mr. Francis Neil Ross, third son of Mrs. J. Itoss, Gippslahd, Victoria, to Miss Jessie Grace Martin, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. Martin. ' The. bride, who was Riven away by lier father, wore a frock ; of white silk, with veil and orange bios- ; soms.- She carried a bouquet of jonquils. white camellias, and forn. Miss i Ethel l'arker was. bridesmaid, and woro d dress of palo mauve voile ivitlr cerisa 'trimming. She carried a bouquet of white and pink camellias, and also wore 1 a i pretty cameo ring, the gift of the bridegroom. Mr. S. V. Martin, brother, of tho bride, acted as best man. After the ceremony, wlucil was performed by the Rev. R. Jackson, of Matamala, the 1 feuests were entertained' at a wedding breakfast by tho brido'6 parents. _ Tho j bride and bridegroom loft later in tho , day amidst showers of confetti for tho north, the former travelling in a navy costume and black velvet hat trimmed ■with pink roses. Their future home ■. will be in Hamilton. '

Dr. Baker said that tho cleanliness and sanitation of mimor"ous New Zealand schools were not up to the proper standard. One difficulty was the scarcity of caretakers. To overcome that, senior pupils should I>e- called on to assist in cleaning operations, committees supplying utensils. It would be. far better for the children to do something in that direction than to go on studying in unhealthy surroundings. A Song Recital. ' ■ St. Andrew's Schoolroom was filled last evening by a very'appreciative audience that had gathered ,to listen to jh®.* o ™ recital given by some of Mr. Reginald Blow's pupils. The programme was a very interesting and well-chosen one, and. th« different performers were warmly Applauded. The opening number was sung by Miss Chudley, ' None But a Lonely Heart" (Tschaikovsky): Miss Bacon sang "A May Morning (.Denza); Miss Maesey, "A Memory (Gorin(| Thomas); Miss Stevens, ' A Slave ..ong > (Del Riego); Mr. Fnneourt, Friend o Mine" 1 (Sanderson); Mrs. Hemp ton. a Catatina, "Tncea la Placida (from "II Trovatore");M l . ss L nn aria from "Madam 'Bntferfl* . 0™ Fine Day" (Puccini); Mrs., Teviotdale.
